"F" is for Friends Who Do Stuff Together

Kristen and I met in high school. We hit it off pretty quickly and became inseparable. We moved through major chapters of our lives together. She went to a 3 day long concert with me to rock out. She sat with me in the bathroom when I got my positive pregnancy tests with my oldest daughter. I couldn't tell you how many times we just went for a drive in her Beatle, blasting Mac Miller and chilling together. She was my calm. She was my best friend.

Life Goes On

Kristen and I started out as just 2 teenage girls who wanted to do everything together. As we have grown older, our lives have changed dramatically. We don't spend every waking moment together anymore. After all, now we have husbands, houses and heathens! However, I will always have a love and connection to her that I share with no one else.

Being Creative is a Way of Life

Kristen has always been an artsy person. She has been fascinated with paintings, sculptures and photos that capture life and all its beauty from many perspectives. Without going into too much detail, art was a big part of her life when we were teens. I was excited to capture her daughters first painting experience to keep and remember forever.

Delicious!

I invested in organic, edible paint powder for this session...a great idea! Kristens daughter was quick to taste all the colors and explore the paint with her hands, the brush, and her taste buds!

A Regular Picasso

Emily cooperated a lot longer than Kristen and I expected! Not only did she paint for quite a long time for someone under the age of 2, but she also came back to it several times (after she took breaks to chase my kittens around, of course).

Just Go With It!

During this session I didn't get one single picture of this beautiful girls smile. Kristen didn't do any traditional "Mommy and Me" poses. But do you know what I did photograph? Creativity. Bonding. The creation of memories that Kristen will remember forever. This type of "candid" session does not appease everyone, and some clients may even be disappointed if they don't receive a "Pinterest worthy" photo. However, knowing Kristen, and the artistry she loves, I know that she will appreciate the colors and love that vibrates through each photo of her and her sweet girl.
